Usual fantasy football wisdom has me looking straight off the bat at the usual suspects – Kano, Aggers, Mo…. But with some of these top players coming in around the £30 million mark I’m not going to be able to get too many shares in of these guys. I feel my risk of actually losing money on some of these big price tags is a bit of a concern.

For me there could be some real value in taking a look at some of the newly promoted teams as my guess is that the majority of players won’t have had a view of many of these guys before. So I’ve decided to take a look at those players that were plying their trade in the Championship last term and will be looking to make their mark early in the EPL.

Wolves – Ruben Neves

Defensive mid, but one of the more high profile players coming up this term.  Actually captained Porto in the Champions league before making the switch to the slightly less exotic Wolverhampton… although Wolverhampton was home to the UK’s first automated traffic light, so who am I to judge.

I’m hoping his experiences in Portugal will mean he has a level head on him and shouldn’t be over awed with the step up in opposition. Scored 6 last term, all from outside the box, which is a good return from the position.

Fulham – Ryan Sessegnon

Left back/winger. I was going to say no relation to that guy who used to play for Sunderland, but having gone and looked it up it turns out Stephane Sessegnon is actually a distant cousin. Ryan has been described as “the future of English football” and some of you will have seen his performances in the under 19s last year when England won the whole bloody thing with Ryan as joint top scorer.

Cardiff – Sean Morrison

Centre back.  Now obviously the EPL is going to be a big step up, but Cardiff did pretty well defensively last year, only conceding 39 goals, but more excitingly Sean managed to hit the back of the net 7 times which could earn mega bucks if you’ve bought a few shares of the big fella.

Good luck

Hopefully that should give you something to go away and think about. I appreciate that all these guys are an unknown quantity at this level, but to make the biggest gains you have to get in there early before the world and his wife knows about them!
